Pitru Paksh- A time for gratitude and reverence🙏🙏

During pitru paksha, the veil between us and our ancestors is the thinnest. We can access our ancestral lineage during these sacred days. But why do we have to do that? Well, because whatever we are has come to us from our ancestors and it's really important to recognise and acknowledge and have gratitude for our ancestors, because it is through our ancestral lineage that we are able to be who we are. This is a perfect time of two weeks to connect with them to liberate them. The reason that we are carrying the traumas, the curses, or the karmas passed down through our lineage because our ancestors are not at peace, they weren't able to achieve what they wanted to when they were in this life form. So, by revering them, by asking them what is it that they need from us, by forgiving them for whatever they fell short of doing for us, we are not only clearing these traumas and generational curses for our lives, but on the behalf our entire lineage, we are liberating our ancestors, so that they can feel peace, feel acknowledged, and know that we are grateful to them and that they can let go of the grip over the karmas we have inherited.

Few ways to do this

1.Set up an altar in South West area of your house. Put their pictures/photographs or objects which symbolise your ancestry. Offer them water and sweets or fruits to satiate their appetite. Light incenses, offer flowers, light a diya to give them light.

Even if u don't know all of your ancestors, just call out to your ancestors and ask them to help you.

In fact, first ask them how you can help them. What is it that you can do to make them happy and satiated.

Tell them that you are good, you are doing your work and moving forward in your life, doing things that your ancestors weren't able to do.

Pray to them to protect you, guide you. Ask them to be proud of you and feel happy for you.

Just be grateful for everything that they have tried to pass on to you.

It's a very powerful time, hence, you can also chant pitru gayatri mantra or the simple mantra which holds the ancestors in esteem "Om Pitru Devataaye Namah".

May your ancestors be at peace, may your mind be at peace. 🙏🙏

October 2nd

This is the last day of pitra paksh. It is called sarvpitra amavasya. This year's pitra paksh holds a lot of significance as it commenced with a lunar eclipse in the sign of pisces and is going to end with a solar eclipse in the sign of virgo(the sign of our Prarabdh, debts, enemies and our shadripus) in the hasta nakshatra with Sun, (our atmakaarak), ketu(the South node of the moon which carries all our past life deeds) , moon(our manas Or mind) and mercury(the planet of speech, logical ability and decision making) being conjunct there.

We must donate food(annadaanam) , water and whatever we can afford to brahmins with complete devotion and gratitude for the liberation of our ancestors' souls as well as for our own progress and well being.

Also, do not forget to offer water with black sesame seeds to the peepal tree in the morning followed by lighting a mustard oil diya under a peepal tree on the eve of this day to show light to our pitris so that they can move forward.

Do not forget to chant the pitra gayatri mantra ' Om devtaabhya pitrabhya shracha mahayogibhya evacha, namah swaahaaye swaadhaaye nityamev namo namah, om pitrabhyo namah'🙏

May our family and all our future generations prosper and progress.

Om Namah Shivaay🙏🙏
